El paratge de Trebal\u00fager, a Es Castell \u2014que no s’ha de confondre amb el Trebal\u00fager des Migjorn Gran\u2014 ha estat habitat des de la prehist\u00f2ria, com ho demostren les nombroses restes megal\u00edtiques i, de manera m\u00e9s prominent, els tres talaiots que formen un triangle al seu espai: el de Trebal\u00fager, el de Torra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un element clau per a la constituci\u00f3 del nucli de Trebal\u00fager seria Es Pou Gran, un pou de torn. Al seu voltant hi havia tres coves i \u2014una mica m\u00e9s inusual\u2014 fins a tres g\u00e0bies de torn per extreure aigua amb un ruc o una mula, a m\u00e9s d’abeuradors i petits horts per sembrar plan\u00e7ons. Utilitzaven el pou les s\u00ednies i cases properes, i, a m\u00e9s, hi havia tota una xarxa de camins a diferents dist\u00e0ncies \u2014encara se \u201cn poden identificar alguns\u2014 que s\u201d estenia de manera radial i servia per portar el bestiar a saciar la set. Arribaven fins i tot des de llocs for\u00e7a llunyans, com Es Barranc, a prop de Sant Llu\u00eds. Avui dia, havent perdut la seva funci\u00f3 original, Es Pou Gran est\u00e0 cobert amb planxes de ferro dins una finca privada, per\u00f2 aquella xarxa de senders podria haver estat l’origen, en temps hist\u00f2rics, del nucli rural de Trebal\u00fager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A la segona meitat del segle XIX, segons un cens de l’any 1873, residien a Trebal\u00fager 37 fam\u00edlies, 19 a Torraixa i 7 a Binissa\u00efda, sumant un total de 67 llars. La mateixa font indica que a tot el terme des Castell habitava una poblaci\u00f3 de 1.962 persones distribu\u00efdes en 512 nuclis familiars. A trav\u00e9s d’una simple operaci\u00f3 matem\u00e0tica, les 67 fam\u00edlies dels tres nuclis rurals esmentats podrien reunir una poblaci\u00f3 aproximada de 250 habitants, que, en tractar-se del camp, fins i tot podria ser m\u00e9s gran.
