Alarm among residents of Trebalúger after detecting the presence of herbicide in water

An analysis carried out in December detected higher than permitted values of simazine.

Concern has spread among the residents of the urbanization of Trebalúger, in Es Castell, after last week the City Council warned them of the presence of a herbicide in the water of the area.

The Consistory informed the neighbors after receiving a request from the Directorate General of Public Health of the Govern, after detecting high values of simazine, a herbicide used to control weeds. Mayor Lluís Camps points out that the presence of this product in the water of the area has been detected since last May, although in the latest samples taken there has been a worrying increase in its presence, which has raised alarm bells.
